The Garden Club of McKeesport was founded in 1933 and Federated in 1936. The Arboretum was established in 1938. A well-known architect from Pittsburgh, Ezra C. Stiles, laid out the plans for the arboretum. The City of McKeesport provided workers for all the labor. The walls and pillars were made from natural stone which are still in existance today. We are the second largest rose garden in Pennsylvania with Hershey Gardens being the first. Come visit us.
The Garden Club of McKeesport has 44 regular members and 3 associate Members.
Our meetings are the 3rd Monday of each month, with the exception of January, beginning at 11:00 a.m. with lunch and a program following.
We maintain our 2-story Clubhouse which is used for meetings, plant sales, and outside organization rentals. The volunteers also maintain the garden area of 3-1/2 acres.
The Garden Club of McKeesport provides a $500 scholdarship through the McKeesport High School Alumni & Friends Association.
We collect food items for the Food Bank as well as make a monetary donation each year.
